Nanea | My Thoughts

So….Nanea Mitchell was just officially released!

Below you’ll find pictures, prices, and my thoughts on the items.

Please feel free to comment on what you think!

Nanea and her book retail for $115.

Nanea has a brand new face mold, and when I first saw it, I wasn’t too thrilled. However, it is growing on me. Her eye notches are just painted, unlike the ivy mold, which I don’t care for. I feel it cheapens the doll.

Nanea also has very similar coloration to Charlotte’s current look. Ultimately, I probably will purchase Nanea as I’d like to have at least one of every AG face mold, but I may customize her.

I do feel that Nanea will be a very popular doll for AG in the long run.

Her meet outfit: First of all, I LOVE historical stuff! *cough* Anyway, her meet outfit is pretty cute and I think will look nice on many different dolls. Although I did notice that her shoes stay on with the help of stretchy plastic–much less sturdy than fabric elastic and easily broken. It’s cute otherwise!

Nanea’s Accessories retail for $24.

I like that her purse/drawstring bag go with her outfit while not being overly matchy-matchy. I really like the necklace and think it could be used for many outfits.

Nanea’s Dress for Girls retails for $48.

I like this. AG needs to make it in bigger sizes! I haven’t been able to wear AG since I was 10. (Which really wasn’t that long ago.) Seriously…not everyone is a petite little picture perfect girl!

Nanea’s dog Mele retails for $22.

He looks absolutely adorable in this picture! If he’s just as scruffily cute in person, he’ll probably come home with me eventually. πŸ™‚

Nanea’s Pet Set retails for $24.

This is pretty cute and realistic, and I like the print on the pillow. It’d be awesome if the pineapple crate was real wood, but I think that’s too much to hope for from AG. 😦

Nanea’s Family Market retails for $250.

This set seems pretty realistic while also being cute. From AG’s description, I believe at least part of it is wooden. I love all the pieces, but probably won’t be taking this home.

Nanea’s Bed & Bedding retails for $95.

The bed is wooden and doubles as a couch. (It slides out to be a bed.)

While I don’t love the color of the bed itself, the contrasty quilt looks quite nice with it. And I like that it’s multipurpose.

Nanea’s Tropical PJ’s retail for $24.

The outfit for girls is basically the same, with a sleeveless top and shorts instead.

This is a nice outfit and separated/paired right could probably work as part of an everyday outfit.

Nanea’s Hula Outfit retails for $36.

Maybe it’s just me, but this outfit looks a little cheap. I mean, the only thing in this outfit that isn’t plastic is the shirt, which still has clear plastic straps to help imitate the strapless look. 😦FFC20_Naneas_Hula_Implements_1Nanea’s Hula Implements retail for $35.

I like that most of this set is in natural, non glow-in-the-dark colors. And also that there are clips/loops so Nanea can (hopefully) hold most of the set herself.

Ukuleles seem to be ‘in’ right now since they’re cheap to purchase and relatively easy to play. Hopefully it at least will be real wood. I’m also excited to try to play the sheet music myself.

(For you musicians out there, I’m pretty sure it’s in the key of A flat–4 flats. Doesn’t look like they put the chords on it, though.)

Nanea’s Holoku Dress retails for $34.

I like dresses in general on my dolls, and this one is no exception. I also like the orchid hair clip.

I know it’s Hawaii and all…but shouldn’t she have a pair of shoes? At least to walk home in?

Nanea’s School Outfit retails for $32.

This is really cute! I like the print a lot, and FINALLY! another pair of shoes. And really adorable shoes at that. This set also comes with a hair clip that says “Nanea” on it, and a “Remember Pearl Harbor” pin.

Yeah, this will be coming home with me some time. πŸ˜€

Nanea’s School Lunch retails for $25.

I like this a lot! The little lunch containers and the napkin…and the little doll food…although that piece of pineapple? doesn’t look particularly amazing.

Nanea’s Island Swimsuit retails for $28.

I currently don’t own any AG swimsuits but I think I might get this one. The goggles are pretty cute, too.

Nanea’s Island Fishing Set retails for $28.

This is pretty cute and I think I might need it for Stuart. πŸ™‚

Nanea Mini Doll retails for $24.99.

She’s kinda cute and might come home with me…when I have money again. πŸ˜‰

Overall, I like Nanea’s collection a lot. Which isn’t that much of a surprise since I love historical everything. And I’m liking Nanea a lot more than I was expecting.

But it does seem we’re getting a bit less bang for our buck as far as the prices/what we’re actually getting.

And um…Nanea probably could use more than 2 pairs of shoes. (Although I think maybe another 2 pairs come with the store set?)

Are you getting Nanea/any of her collection? Why or why not?

I really like Nenea, but I agree that a lot of the items in her collection look cheap. I am not a huge fan of Nanea’s face mold because in my opinon it makes her look smaller. My faorite item in her collection would have to be her school outfit. (And her dog of course!) I don’t think I would buy Nanea. I don’t like that American Girl makes you pay so much money for some of Nanea’s items when they are really not worth the price. But overall I think she’s cute! Are you thinking about buying her?

I agree with you on a lot of the points. Not sure if I want her quite yet though…
