So, after I received Kit for Christmas, I decided I needed to do something I’d been considering for a while. Customize Shirley.
At AGHT, Shirley and Ivy are sisters. Neither are adopted, but they really don’t look alike. I wanted to fix that, as well as add another mold (well, variant, at least) to my collection.
A month or so ago, I ordered a wig for one of my ‘eventual customs’, but couldn’t pick it up until after Christmas break.
Anyway, I found what I thought was a Truly Me with a Jess mold for a great price online. When I got the doll, it turned out to be Jess. And Jess had a lot more issues than I’d expected. (The nail-polish I’d been prepared for, and the slightly crazy hair, but not the paint splotch, dye transfers and general grime.)
Well, I got Jess cleaned up^^ (with the exception of the dye transfers–you need sun for that) and asked around for someone in my area to eye swap for me.
Last week I picked up my ordered wig, but we were on our way someplace so I popped it into my suitcase and forgot about it.
When we got home, I decided, since I was also going to wig swap Jess, I might as well remove the Jess wig and start playing around with the few different wigs I have (for Charlotte and a couple customs I have in mind). None of them looked right, to me. Cool.
Then I remembered the other ordered wig in my suitcase. I pulled it out and slipped it on.
I was kinda disappointed at first–it didn’t look the way I imagined. But I played around with it and it’s starting to look better (hopefully it’ll settle down even more…it’s still a little crazy!).
I had his story in mind (as well as this wig) for a different future custom, but I guess it just belongs with him!
